Met Flex Wheeler

I had the graet pleasure of meeting Flex Wheeler at the NPC Camellia Championships on Saturday May 28, 2011. When I first started weight training about 12+ years ago he was a huge inspiration. I believe Flex had the best symmetry in Bodybuilding to date. I felt like a giddy kid and could barely make a complete sentence I was so excited. :)

Letting Go

I’ve had an old pair of shoes now for probably 10+ years. They were great shoes. Shiny, comfortable and pretty light on your feet. Well last night going through my closet and there sat those shoes. Toes scuffed up really bad, broken laces, stiff as a board and not really comfortable anymore. I made the decision to let them go. It was hard and an emotional thing to do. These shoes traveled to a lot of places with me.
Just like in life there’s things that just need to be let go and get rid of. It might hurt, might be emotional but it will be for the best.

Easter Prayer 2010

Lord Jesus help me! I cry out to you oh Lord! The pain inside me is more than I can bear. I need your intervention! I need you back in my life. I have fallen away and ignored your previous plea’s for me. I’m now up and listening oh God. I want your presence, I need your presence. If you can find one small ember in me please help me fan it into a blazing fire. Money, my house or even food means nothing to me without you Jesus! Resurrect me oh Lord, Resurrect me.

- Amen

Central City Elections

It’s amazing to me that a town like The City of Central (right outside of Baton Rouge) has such ruthless elections. One would think the gubnotoril or presidential elections are taking place. As far as who’s got my vote… There’s not a real good selection but agree that most incumbants need the boot. Also after seeing this election I definately want to be more involved by attending council meetings and letting my voice be heard. Polls close at 8 so well see who wins.

Spanish Town Parade 2010

We rode on a float in the SpanishTown Parade this year. There was tons of sites and beads!

Gary Vaynerchuck Social Media Event

Last night I attended the Gary Vaynerchuck Social Media event at Independence Park Theatre, in Baton Rouge LA. Gary is the author of the book Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion and runs the website Wine Library TV. I honestly didn’t know a lot about him other than these two things but was interested in what he had to say about personal branding and social media. Here are some great points he touched on during his talk. Also, he’s a great story teller. If you every get a chance to hear him speak go. It will be well worth it.

  • If you don’t get into social media you will lose.
  • Word of mouth closes 72-20 percent of the time.
  • Facebook and Twitter are word of mouth tools.
  • Own what your about.
  • it’s always the message.
  • In Three years we will all be in the customer service business.
  • Like a small town, through social media we are all connected and know everyone’s business. That’s where business is going.
  • Everyone, every relationship, every customer is now the press.

These are just some of the great points he made last night. If you interested in more of this check out his book and blog!

Feeling like Your in the Rat Race

typical city traffic Ever feel like day in and day out your like a worker ant going back and forth to work. Same time, same traffic, same cars, same route every single day. You even get used to seeing the same cars day in and day out. Thinking of this can be depressing making you ask yourself “Am I only here to work and not enjoy life?”.

Some things I have done to make me feel better about myself are taking different routes. New scenery can be quite refreshing rather than seeing the same ole buildings and traffic lights.

2010 Goals and Resolutions

It’s close to the end of January and only recently have I put any thought into resolutions or goals for this new year. With so much going on lately neither me or my wife had resolutions. I’m believing to 2010 to be a great year for me!

  • Write at least one blog post a week.
  • Start two revenue generating websites.
  • Make better and stronger connections within my social networks.

Personal

  • Fish more.
  • find an outdoor hobby.
  • get down to 165lbs.

Home

  • Build or have a fence built in my backyard.

Jonathan Volk’s Twitter Contest

twitter

I’m always been a fan of contest’s, who doesn’t love free stuff right? While reading a while back I came across Jonathan’s post here. I usually read Jonathan’s blog but like he mention’s for a while there was a new contest every day and who doesn’t get burned out reading and trying to win them. For this one in particular it’s a point system that’s pretty easy to accumulate points.

  • follow him on twitter – 1 pt
  • follow his affiliate marketing twitter list – 1 pt
  • tweet/retweet his posts – 1 pt each
  • Write a blog post on it – 5 pt
  • become a fan on his Facebook page – 1 pt
  • subscribe to his RSS via email – 1 pt
  • tweet about contest – 5 pt

As for the prizes he’s giving away dual 22″ monitors to first place. That’s a pretty sweet prize if you ask me!

There’s only 8 more days to try to win so tweet up, fan and post! Good Luck everyone!

What’s been happening

For a good little while I’ve been letting this blog go by just auto-posting my delicious bookmarks. I neglected the fact about why I wanted to this to begin with. To express myself through my random thoughts and writing. Now I’m trying to “get backing the right track”, pardon my SNL quote. Hope you stay tuned!
